The village of Washington was laid out in 1807 but this name was unpopular with the settlers, In 1816, the State Legislature was petitioned to restore the town to its Indian name, Piqua. The village was incorporated in 1823 and re-incorporated in 1835.

The Johnston Farm
This 174 acre farm is just north of Piqua off state route 66. It has an 1829 restored period home, rides on a canal boat, an Indian Museum and much more.
