Here is a history page for the City of Fairburn.
Founded as Cartersville in 1833, the name of the town was changed just one year later to Berryville. It is believed the town was named for a township in the County of York in England.

Soldiers Monument
In 1921, a soldiers monument was built in the middle of West Broad Street honoring those who died in World War I. It was moved to the Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in 1949.
Confederate Marker
A granite boulder was placed in the Depot Park in 1937 by the Daughters of the Confederacy to commemorate the site of the unfurling of the first Confederate Flag in Fairburn in 1861. The marker and a flute column from Broad Street were later moved to the Civic Cemetery.
